Your garden design questions answered…

Why use a professional garden designer?

A professional garden designer will bring creative ideas and a new perspective to your outside space. At the same time they will consider your requirements, lifestyle and budget. With their expert knowledge and experience they will be able to solve anything from difficulties with an awkward shaped plot to creating privacy, and selecting appropriate plants for your soil type and aspect. They’ll also help you avoid expensive mistakes and will work to ensure your garden stays on budget.

Do you design small gardens?

We design a wide range of gardens, from small courtyards and patios to large country gardens. Whatever we are working on we apply the same dedication to providing you with a high quality bespoke design that meets your requirements.

I don’t want my whole garden redesigned. Will you take on one area?

Yes, sometimes our clients want a section of their garden designed, such as a patio area, an entertaining space or a water feature. We’ll be happy to discuss your individual requirements. Get in touch

How much do you charge to design a garden?

What we charge is dependent on several different elements – the size of your garden and the amount of different features that are included in the design. As a guide we charge a minimum fee of £900. We also find it helpful to ask you to consider your overall budget – what you plan to spend on the design and construction of the garden. This helps us determine what we include in the design in terms of landscaping, plants and other materials, so that we keep within your budget. Get in touch if you would like any further details.

How long will it take?

This is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string, as it’s dependent on the size of your garden and the complexity of what’s involved. As a guide it would usually take 4 weeks from the initial consultation through to the concept design. From here it would generally take a further 2 weeks to the layout plan.

What is the best time of year to have a garden designed?

We are able to design a garden during any season throughout the year. Once you contact us we will be able to discuss a schedule that is suitable for your own individual garden needs.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Essex but we design gardens all over East Anglia, the Home Counties, London and the Southern Counties. Get in touch if you would like to discuss our services.

Can you build the garden too?

Yes, if you’re based within Essex and Suffolk we can instruct our partner business, Holland Landscapes, to construct the garden. If you live further afield we’d be happy to recommend an alternative garden landscaper to complete the work.
