Tapestry Design Studios Review of 2023

Tapestry Design Studios Review of 2023

2023 was a great year for Katie Moyes and the team at Tapestry Design Studios. Find out what we got up to in this blog.

Happy New Year!

Our first blog of the year looks back at the successes of 2023 and looks forward to some exciting challenges in 2024.

2023 was a great year for Tapestry Design Studios. We had some interesting projects to work on and vistited some truly inspirational garden. Best of all, Katie passed the first of three stages towards professional accreditation with the Society of Garden Designers.

Beautiful Gardens Designed And Brought To Life

Katie at Tapestry Design Studios prides herself on being able to design a wide variety of gardens. She always puts her client’s needs and tastes before her own preferences and comes up with uniquely personalised designs.

In 2023, Katie and the team worked on a varied portfolio of designs in Essex as well as in Surrey, Kent and Cambridgeshire.

On the board in 2023 were……

  • Small courtyard gardens
  • Large wraparound gardens
  • Steeply sloping gardens
  • Large rural sites
  • Layout arrangements
  • Planting plans
  • Construction drawings for landscaping

Visiting Amazing Places

Garden design inspiration comes from all kinds of sources, but none are better than visiting beautiful gardens to see how other people design, style and use outdoor spaces.

In the summer of 2023, Katie was lucky enough to fulfil a long held wish to visit the Alhambra Palace of Granada in Spain, with the beautiful Generalife Gardens. She also spent time at the smaller, but no less inspiring, Jardin de l‘Alberta near Valencia. The gardens were amazing, but the 42 degree heat was a little uncomfortable at times.

Society Of Garden Designers Accreditation

We couldn’t have been more proud of Katie for passing the first stage of her Society of Garden Designers (SGD) Accreditation.

The SGD is the only professional association for garden designer sin the UK and it’s members represent the very best of the industry. To become an SGD accredited garden designer, candidates need to demonstrate knowledge, competency and the ability to translate the client’s brief into a stylish and buildable design.

As part of the accreditation process, candidates must submit three designs for scrutinising by a panel of judges. Katie’s first submission was for a medium sized back garden which was overlooked by neighbouring properties. The layout and the planting palette has completely transformed the space and continues to bring great joy to the homeowners.

What Clients Said About Tapestry Design Studios

Working with Katie Moyes from Tapestry Design Studios was a delightful experience. Her innovative and detailed garden design exceeded my expectations. Katie’s expertise and creativity will transform my outdoor space into a beautiful and functional haven. Throughout the process, Katie’s professionalism and passion for design were evident. I highly recommend Tapestry Design Studios for anyone seeking a garden transformation.”  Steve Hollingsworth, Sudbury

Following some groundworks to add a further driveway to our front garden, we were left with a lawn and some overgrown shrubs, that whilst acceptable, was lacking any real structure or purpose. We had some basic ideas but turned to Katie for an initial garden plant to see what could be achieved in what is an unusual shaped space with a number of challenges. From the moment Katie arrived we knew we had made the right decision in getting a professional onboard. She came with an open mind and worked with all of our preferences, as well as considerations and suggestions for things we hadn’t even thought of. Katie is a genuinely lovely person who is passionate about her work and it shows; she came up with a design that completely surpassed any expectations we had, and that will stand the test of time. Katie is completely non judgemental and in o way made us feel uncomfortable for not having an endless budget. Following the successful build of the front garden, we have since turned to Tapestry Design Studios again for a planting plan for the front garden and a design plan for our back garden too. I can’t recommend Katie and Tapestry Design Studios enough, faultless from start to finish.  Kylie Farrow, Colchester
