The Design Journey
Every garden begins with conversation. Following your initial enquiry, we will arrange a consultation at your home to understand your property, lifestyle and aspirations for the space. This meeting allows us to explore how you wish to use the garden, discuss ideas and identify opportunities within the existing landscape.
During this stage, we also begin our site analysis, carefully assessing elements such as sunlight, shade, views, levels and existing features. A professional site survey forms an essential part of this process, providing the accuracy required to fully understand the unique characteristics of your garden. Detailed measurements, levels and the precise location of existing features ensure the design is informed with clarity and precision from the very beginning. From these early discussions and technical assessments, we prepare a detailed design brief that forms the foundation of the project.
The first stage of the design process focuses on the spatial arrangement of the garden—establishing the layout, circulation and positioning of key features. Once refined and agreed, we develop the concept plan, a scaled drawing that begins to bring the vision to life.
As the design evolves into the master plan stage, we refine materials, colour palettes and surface finishes, carefully considering every detail to ensure the garden feels cohesive, elegant and timeless. Alongside the drawings, we prepare detailed project documentation to support both clients and landscapers throughout the build process.
Construction detailing follows, where bespoke features and technical elements are carefully communicated to ensure the design is realised accurately on site.
Planting design is one of the most transformative stages of the journey. Thoughtfully composed planting schemes introduce texture, movement and seasonal interest, bringing softness and atmosphere to the garden while strengthening its connection to the surrounding landscape.
